Les Barons by Nabil Ben Yadir
In his movie, Nabil Ben Yadir gets rid of stereotypes and prejudices to reveal what lies behind the hang around of three young folks of North African origin living in Molenbeek. Trough the lives of Hassan, who dreams more of being on stage rather than at the steering wheel of a bus, Aziz, who would like to be business partner with the grocer next door and Mounir, who takes baron philosophy as his lifestyle. Nabil offers with talent, sincerity and love for cinema, his own reality of what it is to be a young North African living in Molenbeek. He plays with the form and relaxes the minds. Entirely shot in scope in Brussels, carried by surprisingly impressing actors, this movie deals with quite a lot of taboos and goes well beyond clichés. Original, clever, refreshing!
